Along with the range of services listed below we also offer our patients over the age of five the opportunity to attend our minor illness clinic. This clinic is led by Joanne Anderson who can treat a range off conditions such as:- coughs and colds, earache, sore throats, constipation, vomiting and diarrhoea, conjunctivitis.
The practice nurses are professional
people in their own right and may be seen by appointment. They can often help
with problems that patients may not wish to see the doctor about. They also provide
many preventative, monitoring and screening services for the practice and deal
with the following:

The health care assistants provide support to our practice nurses and doctors
by performing new patient assessments, blood pressure checks, spirometry tests, ECGs and stitch removal.
They will also do blood tests (phlebotomy) by appointment following a doctor's referral.

The reception staff will assist you in making emergency and routine appointments
to see your doctor, undertake repeat prescriptions, answer numerous and varied
questions and offer help and assistance at all times.
It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patients’ records is
maintained at the highest level by all staff. Although our staff are highly trained,
we must point out that they are not qualified to give medical advice.

Our attached health visitors are registered nurses with extra training in health
promotion in the community.
Their
work includes:
• Advice on health matters during pregnancy.
• Assessing the health and development of children under five years.
• Offering advice and support to parents.
• Assessing health needs of the elderly in the community.

The primary role of the district nurse is to provide specialist home nursing
care at the request of the practice or hospital doctors.

If you require a midwife in an emergency please call Ayrshire Central Hospital
on 01294 274191 and ask for a midwife covering the Kilbirnie/Beith area.
The midwife is actively involved in preconceptual, antenatal and postnatal care.
Parenthood education and breastfeeding workshops are offered locally. In association
with health visiting colleagues, we provide breastfeeding support and a First-year
Group for new parents.
Podiatrist

A state registered chiropodist based at the health centre provides podiatry care
for our elderly patients, children and expectant mothers. Home visits for the
housebound and appointments for surgery can be made via the receptionist.
