Our attached health visitors are registered nurses with extra training in health promotion in the community.
Their work includes:
- Advice on health matters during pregnancy.
- Assessing the health and development of children under five years.
- Offering advice and support to parents.
- Assessing health needs of the elderly in the community.

The primary role of the District Nurse is to provide specialist home nursing care at the request of the practice or hospital doctors.
Midwife

If you require a midwife in an emergency please call Ayrshire Maternity Unit on 01563 825300 and ask for a midwife covering the Kilbirnie/Beith area.
The midwife is actively involved in pre-conceptual, antenatal and postnatal care. Parenthood education and breastfeeding workshops are offered locally. In association with health visiting colleagues, we provide breastfeeding support and a First-year Group for new parents.
