Our results line is open from 9am -11am Monday, Tuesday Thursday & Friday. The line is closed on Wednesdays and in the afternoons.
If your test has been carried out at a clinic or hospital please call the clinic or hospital for the result, as we cannot action tests which have been requested by other clinicians outwith the practice. If the results are normal and doctor decides no action needed, please note you might not be contacted, however please feel free to call us and confirm that they are indeed normal. If the results are abnormal and doctor thinks they need to be acted upon, you will be contacted by staff members either to make a telephone or face to face consultation.
Blood Tests
Blood results may take up to 1 week to come back.
Blood testing is usually done by Health care assistants. If you have a letter asking to make appointment for blood test, it would usually be with a HCA.
Results take up to 1 week to come back. Some bloods can be reported on next day. Please note for checking Blood sugar, Cholesterol levels, ideally we would need fasting blood tests. (Over night fasting for 12hours and Not to eat or drink anything in the morning).
If you have undergone any of the above investigations ordered by the practice, the doctors will look into each and every of them and act accordingly.
Urine Tests
Urine culture results are available after 48 hours ( two working days).
If you are suspecting cystitis, please contact GP or a Nurse.
We do not accept Urine samples without prior discussion with a Doctor or Nurse.
If you have undergone any of the above investigations ordered by the practice, the doctors will look into each and every of them and act accordingly.
Radiology Results ( X-rays)
X-ray & Ultrasound results take up to 2 weeks to be reported by the hospital. X-rays can be done either in Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine (or) Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. Doctors can request them to be done at either of the sites. For Irvine, you would need to make appointment by contacting the number on the form. For RAH, they provide walk in service.
Ultrasound scans can be requested for both sites as above. But the appointments would be sent by the hospital.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.
Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Specimens
All specimens must be provided in a suitable container and marked clearly with name, date of birth and a date and reason for the specimen.
